News Team Henselite FOSTER AND MARSHALL STAR IN TEAM HENSELITE GOLD RUSH!
August 13, 2014

Whilst the TV Broadcasters focus was mainly on the sports of swimming and athletics, those who found a way to watch the lawn bowls at Glasgow's historic and picturesque Kelvingrove Bowling Club were treated with some scintillating play.  Some high quality bowls was on offer over the fortnight with many matches going right down to the wire.

Without a doubt one of the highlights was the men's pairs semi-final where traditional rivals England and Scotland battled it out.  England, skipped by Henselite UK sponsored player Sam Tolchard, looked to be on top until the final end where fellow Henselite UK sponsored player Alex Marshall MBE played the two bowls of his life (which, for a 5-time World Indoor Champion is saying something) to score two winning shots with a front and back touchers.  'Tatties' (Marshall) salute to the crowd following the win was to be the symbol of the 2014 Games.  Paul Foster and Marshall collected Gold with a comfortable win over Malaysia in the final.

Marshall and Foster were joined by fellow Henselite UK sponsored player David Peacock and Neil Speirs in the fours discipline and they claimed Gold with an emphatic final win over England, skipped by Henselite UK sponsored player Jamie Chestney, to claim a glorious double for Team Henselite golden boys Foster and Marshall.

In the end it was a mix of nations who shared the spoils at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games with Scotland and South Africa vying for top honours but there was a common thread throughout with Gold Medal winners using Henselite bowls more than any other brand with the 'Tiger' in particular largely being the bowl of choice for the slower paced Glasgow greens.

"The Henselite Tiger is just simply the best bowl I have ever used, what makes it for me is the slimmer shape, the grip and the Arc, the perfect bowl for outdoor and indoor", said Alex Marshall.
